Why use Go Man Plus?
More commonly, men have a declined interest in sex and libido levels will vary throughout life. It is also normal that your sexual interest does not always match that of your partner at times. However, any prolonged loss of libido may cause concern for some people. It may also be a precursor for an underlying health condition such as reduced hormone levels. Testosterone is a very important hormone in men which is mostly produced in the testicles. If you have a low testosterone count or when your levels fall below 300 to 350 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL) your desire for sex also declines. Go Man Plus contains Horny Goat weed which is from the species (Epimedium) is a herb known as a "natural aphrodisiac" as shown through studies to have positive effects on hormone production and libido.

What is Male Andropause?
Male Andropause
Andropause is the name given to a range of symptoms including changes in sexual function, associated with low levels of testosterone in the blood due to the natural aging process. Another name for andropause is late onset hypogonadism, which is insufficient production of sex hormone by the gonads (testes in men) and it affects 21% men aged between 60 and 80. Andropause has been called male menopause, however, unlike female menopause, where a sudden drop in levels of the female hormone oestrogen occurs when ovulation stops, there is a gradual decrease in testosterone levels of 1%-2% per year after the age of 40 years1. There appears to be a threshold of testosterone essential for normal sexual functioning, below which symptoms of andropause can develop and this has been found to be around 10.4 nmol/L (300 ng/dL)2.The Importance of Testosterone
Testosterone is an androgen or male hormone that is responsible for normal growth and development of the testes and prostate gland, as well as stimulating male characteristics, such as body hair, increased muscle and bone mass and a deeper voice. It also regulates libido, maintains fertility by supporting sperm production, and supports the production of red blood cells. Testosterone is produced by the Leydig cells in the testes and there is wide range of normal levels, which makes it difficult to establish levels that are below normal. About 10% of testosterone is converted in the prostate and testes to its more potent metabolite dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Levels of DHT are thought to correlate more accurately than testosterone to male sexual function2.Symptoms of Low Testosterone Levels
Symptoms of decreasing levels of testosterone were first described in 19443, 4. However, andropause is difficult to diagnose as there are also many conditions that have similar symptoms as low testosterone levels. These are the most commonly experienced symptoms of decreased testosterone levels5.- Loss of libido
- Erectile dysfunction
- Altered body composition - decreased lean body mass and muscle mass, increased fat
- Reduced energy and sense of well-being
- Reduced bone mineral density and increased risk of osteoporosis
- Decreased body hair and skin thickness
- Irritability and depression
- Poor quality of sleep
- Deterioration in cognitive function
Tips for keeping healthy through Andropause:
- Make healthy lifestyle choices
- Eat a balanced healthy diet
- Include regular exercise in your life
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Try to reduce stress
- Reduce your alcohol intake as this can affect your testosterone levels
- Talk to your doctor about possible treatments
Important
Make sure you do not have any underlying health condition, such as heart disease, depression or diabetes.Natural Ingredients that may help
There are some plants with properties that may help relieve some symptoms of andropause.Korean Ginseng (Panax ginseng):
Panax ginseng is a flowering plant that grows widely in Asia and has been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years, including as a treatment for impotence. Panax ginseng contains ginsenosides the main pharmacologically active substances in extracts of the plant. Evidence from clinical studies indicates that Panax ginseng extract improves sexual function in men with erectile dysfunction6, 7.Damiana (Turnera diffusa or Turnera aphrodisiaca):
Damiana is a shrub native to Central and South America and Mexico and was used by the Aztecs for impotency and by Mexican women as an aphrodisiac; it is generally known in modern day cultures as a libido-boosting tonic. Several pharmacologically active compounds have beenidentified in extracts of Damiana, including apigenin which is an anxiolytic (reduces anxiety)8. Although there have been no clinical studies to support the use of Damiana as an aphrodisiac, animal studies have been carried out that appear to support its sexual stimulant properties9, 10.
Horny Goat Weed (Epimedium):
Horny Goat Weed, also known as Barrenwort is a flowering plant found mainly in China, and used in traditional Chinese medicine to increase fertility and improve sexual performance. Horny Goat Weed contains the flavonoid icaritin thought to be a natural aphrodisiac with pro-erectile properties. There are no clinical studies to support this, but the effectiveness of isolated icaritin has been demonstrated in animal studies and on cells in vitro11.Tribulus terrestris:
Tribulus terrestris is an annual flowering shrub that grows in dry climates around the world. It has been used in traditional medicine in China, India (Ayurveda) and south-eastern Europe, to improve male sexual function and performance. Several pharmacologically active compounds have been identified in extracts of the fruit of Tribulus terrestris, particularly saponins and flavonoids. Some animal studies and clinical studies suggest that there may be a role for Tribulus terrestris as an aphrodisiac and for improving erectile dysfunction12, 13.Muira Puama:
Muira Puama is a flowering plant native to the Amazon rainforest and is known locally as “Potency wood”. It has been used in South American herbal medicine for its many properties including as an aphrodisiac and is thought to work by increasing blood flow to the pelvic area, which helps maintain and enhance an erection. This property of Muira puama has been studied in animal models14, however, it has not been supported by any clinical studies.Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens):
Saw Palmetto is a small palm tree found in the Southern US and Central America. An extract made from its berries has been used in traditional medicine for enlarged prostate, and analysis of this extract has found it to be rich in fatty acids and phytosterols (plant sterols). Saw Palmetto may be helpful for reducing symptoms of enlarged prostate, which becomes increasingly common in men as they age15, 16.Deer Velvet:
Deer velvet is the name given to deer antlers during their rapidly growing stage, when they are soft and covered in fine hair that gives them the feel of velvet. In traditional Chinese medicine deer velvet has been used as a restorative tonic for body strengthening, blood cell production, the immune system, and cardiovascular health and function. Deer velvet is a rich source of many growth factors and research supports many health benefits, particularly in regenerative medicine, however, there is no evidence for its use in enhancing sexual function17.L-Arginine:
L-arginine is an amino acid (building block for proteins) and is a precursor of nitric oxide, which is important for normal blood flow, by causing dilation (widening) of blood vessels. This is an important mechanism involved in the process of obtaining and maintaining an erection. There is some clinical evidence that low levels of L-arginine are associated with erectile dysfunction and a diet rich in L-arginine, such as the Mediterranean diet, as part of a healthy lifestyle, may support healthy sexual function in men18, 19.References:
